| Aunt Wilda in Kansas |
We went to Liberal last Friday and I got to visit Great Aunt
Wilda on my father’s side of the family. She said I looked like a Mortensen. We
all chatted and talked. They showed me lots of pictures of people I didn't know
and names were thrown at me left and right but it was so nice to be so warmly
received. We took a picture and they were sad to see me go after an hour. And I
was sad I couldn't stay longer but they were very nice. She knew most of the
names of Dad's sibling's spouses and I was impressed. We talked about Dad's
mission in Texas a little bit and I told them about the long horns he got and
that I got. They were really super nice.
You remember the Cups song I did for you a couple days
before I left for the MTC? Well there's an elder from Spain serving here, and I
tried to teach him the cup sequence that’s supposed to go with the song. He was
funny. I also tried to teach him how to play Nertz, but since I don’t think he’s
ever even held a deck of cards before, it
was too hard—and funny!
Today we are going over to the senior couple’s house to make
gingerbread house kits and decorating them, so of course I'm excited. The
Williams have been so awesome! I love them :]
I think I will be transferred on the 18th but I'm not
entirely sure I will be. We aren't sure until the Sunday night before but I've
been here for a long time so I'll probably be leaving soon.
We went to a small ward Christmas party. It was fun, but it
was freezing cold that day. My companion and I walked down to around the post
office with no luck, then we walked back to the church to help set up because
it would be warm and we were freezing. We got there and Bishop was grateful to
have our help because he had forgotten to assign people to set up.
Last Sunday he was talking about missionary work in
Sacrament meeting and was encouraging the youth of the ward to decide to serve
missions. It's been five years since the ward has had missionaries out and he
mentioned how he saw us all bundled up walking in the cold and how we’re doing
it because it's true and it's the Lord's work. It was a little
embarrassing to be mentioned from the pulpit, but it was nice of him even though
we felt we hadn’t accomplished much that day in the cold, ha, ha. We have the
car this week! Yay! :]
Yesterday we went to dinner at a family's house and they
served us pizza and hot wings. They were bringing in another pizza and it
almost made it to the table when it fell into my companion’s lap. I could NOT
stop laughing. My face was red and my neck veins hurt. It was hilarious! She shrugged
and laughed it off, but it it was funny!
So there are 14 missionaries from our ward? That's crazy! Could
you please send me my rain boots and my warm hat?
I love you mom!
