| Sister Mortensen and Sister McQuay love Flindora |
Good news! I'm finished with Training. Technically, I'm
still a trainee but I've passed off all my lessons and checked off everything
in the 12 week training program. So I will have driving privileges next
transfer but I'll also have a new companion. I might be even be training, but I
might not.
It’s been harder to get around since we’re sharing “Flindora”
our car, with the elders. However, the the senior couple has been wonderful by offering
us rides. And today they'll be taking us grocery shopping and what not, because
the Elders needed the car today as well.
Now for some awesome news! :]
The couple that walked to church on their own their first
time are set to be married and baptized this Saturday! Neither me or my companion have planned a wedding or a baptism so the senior couple will help us out a lot. We're so excited for them because of their incredible
eagerness to be baptized. They're wonderful examples of eager learners. Not
that we're teaching them a whole lot—they spend a lot of their free time
reading the scriptures and things on lds.org so
they already know most of the things we go over with them. They are being so
welcomed into the ward. It's heartwarming to see and even though they don't
really need us they still recognize us as their missionaries and we love it.
We gave service this week at the Senior Center twice. The
first day we were supposed to help the blood drive but it was slower than
expected so they just had us put books away in their library. They have a
really large romance novel section. With really awkward pictures on them, so
that was interesting. Then after that, they had us sort through wigs which was
also very interesting. The next day we were worried about what to
expect but we ended up actually helping put blood drive stuff away and
resetting up the room. I got to vacuum and they had a Dyson vacuum! You
know the really expensive kind that's on a ball? Yeah it was pretty
awesome and I figured it'd be my only opportunity to use such an
expensive vacuum and I enjoyed it to the fullest! Ha! Ha! There was guy in
his 20s that was helping as well. He was fun but quiet. After service, I
gave him a Book of Mormon and bore my testimony on it. Encouraged him to read
it and we think he will. We hope to hear from him in time or to see him for
another service project.
Thanks for the Japanese Candy and the jelly! :] I forgot
that we don't have a toaster yet--we need to get it from the empty elder's apartment.
So I made toast on a skillet and it turned out pretty all right actually.
Thanks so much Mom! Love you!
