| Moovin' On! |
Transfers are this week and on Friday I got the call that I
have been called to train someone new. So we knew that one of us would be
leaving but we didn't know who. I thought it would be me for sure because I've
been here the longest, aside from the senior couple. We found out last night
who is going where, and I'm going to......STAY HERE! My companion is leaving and
I will remain in Dodge and by next transfer I will have been here for 6 months—one
third of my mission! I hope my new companion knows a little Spanish because we
need it and I don't know it. My current companion is sad to go as she just got
here and was just starting to know her way around and get to know the people.
She cried when she heard the news she was leaving. But I know she’ll like her
new assignment too.
One investigator, a friend of recent converts, knows is
interested in comparing beliefs and learning what we believe, but she’s not
really interesting in finding out if it's true or not. She watches preachers on
TV and has a wide variety of beliefs. We asked her to read Mosiah 10 and
discussed the scriptures. She has
questions about prophets and the scriptures, and wanted specific references in
the scriptures to support our beliefs. We’ll discuss them next time we visit.
Had trouble getting home on time one night since we didn’t
have a car, and after that, the Elders have insisted we have the car which has
helped us immensely! We taught five people on Friday—it took us three days of
walking to teach five people! I hope Dodge gets another car soon so we don't
have to share and we can all be more productive.
One of our investigators came to church on Sunday! Unfortunately
most everything in sacrament meeting was in Spanish (because of the large
amount of Spanish speakers the sacrament prayers or the talks or the lessons
are in Spanish sometimes so it switches who has to wear headphones and listen
to translation. But hopefully the next time she comes she will be able to
understand and will thereby be able to enjoy it a little bit more. She liked
Relief Society which was about being in the world but not of the world.
Sunday evening we went to see her and answer questions she
may have had at church. She asked what we believe and we went over the Articles
of Faith with her, which was great! She talked about her prayers to know if
this is the true church. She said that she likes our church feels loved. One
thing that has surprised me about being on a mission is the amount of love I
feel for the people I meet. It's just incredible.
Anyway today we're going to the zoo with our district then
we're playing games at the home of our senior couple. Half our district is
leaving. Two elders are going home, and my companion is going away. So we're
trying to make it a good P-Day. I think I'll make truffles again.
